The Principal’s Welcome Speech

Good morning. It’s very nice to meet you all.

I am Osamu Kondo, the principal of this school.

On behalf of all of us here, I would like to say a few words to welcome you.

It is a great pleasure to have you all, the students and teachers of Sacred Heart College, at Sozan High School.

May 1st this year, I visited Sacred Heart College and Mr.Byrne gave me a great opportunity to look around your school. I was deeply impressed by the wonderful educational environment there.I am very happy that our schools agreed to continue this special partnership.

Over the next 7 days, you are going to attend classes and club activities at our school, and homestay with our students. During classes, as well as school activities, you will have opportunities to encounter aspects of traditional Japanese culture.

I hear that our visiting students are learning Japanese? Please feel free to try speaking to any of our students or teachers in Japanese. Through this opportunity, I would like you and our students to understand each other and develop long lasting friendships regardless of language and culture.

Last but certainly not least, I would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the teachers from Sacred Heart College for your collaboration with us.

Now I want you to go out and enjoy your time at Sozan! Thank you.

おはようございます。岡山県立岡山操山中学校・高等学校長の近藤　治です。 　

本校を代表し、歓迎の言葉を申し上げます。 　

セイクリッド・ハート・カレッジの生徒と先生の皆さん、岡山操山中学・高校にようこそ！皆さんを心から歓迎いたします。 　

また、５月１日には、セイクリッド・ハート・カレッジを訪問させていただき、校内を見学しました。素晴らしい学習環境でとても驚きました。 　

今日から、約１週間の予定で、皆さんに、本校で授業や部活動を体験したり、生徒の家でホームステイを経験してもらいます。授業では、本校生徒と一緒に、日本の伝統文化に触れてもらう機会もあります。楽しみにしておいてください。 　

来校された生徒の皆さんは、日本語も勉強されていると聞いています。どうぞ生徒に、気軽に日本語で話しかけてください。言葉や文化の違いを超えて、お互いのことを理解し合い、将来にわたって友情が続くような素敵な関係を築いてくれることを期待しています。 　

最後に、引率の先生方、心からお礼申し上げます。どうぞ御協力をお願いいたします。
