5月2日(火)、1年生はディビッド ワイウディ先生の ”A Door to the World : “What is Global Leadership?” と題するグローバル講演会を行いました。

「グローバルとは何か」というテーマから、「異文化を理解すること」、さらに、「ユニークであることがその中では大事なのだ」とメッセージをいただきました。

To know what is globalization, the first step is understanding other cultures. Life in Japan is not the same as life in other countries. If we can understand other cultures, we can have better communication. So, today, I’d like to talk to you a little bit about my culture and your culture.

In America, the center is each person, not the group. We say ” the squeaky wheel gets the grease”. This is very difficult English, but it means that the person who is unique and strong and outgoing (not shy) is the winner.

People can be scared of something different, but different can also be exciting!
