【The Principal’s Welcome Speech】
Good afternoon. It’s very nice to meet you all.
I am Mr. Kondo, the principal of this school.
On behalf of all of us here, I would like to say a few words to begin your welcome assembly.
It is a great pleasure to have you all, the students and teachers of Sacred Heart College, at Sozan High School.
Over the next 6 days, you are going to attend classes and club activities at our school, and homestay with our students. During classes, as well as school activities, you will have opportunities to encounter aspects of traditional Japanese culture. Additionally, our students are looking forward to taking you to a very good example of a traditional Japanese garden and a castle right here in Sozan’s own neighborhood.
Our school has been designated as a Super Global High School by the Japanese Ministry of Education for the last two years. This program aims to foster globalized leaders who will be able to play active roles on the international stage.
I hope our students will make the most of this opportunity to improve their English communication skills.
I hear that our visiting students are learning Japanese? Please feel free to try speaking to any of our students or teachers in Japanese. Through this opportunity, I would like you and our students to understand each other and develop long lasting friendships regardless of language and culture.
Last but certainly not least, I would like to express our sincerest gratitude to the teachers from Sacred Heart College for your collaboration with us.
It is my wish to see students from both schools learn and grow through this wonderful opportunity.

　こんにちは。はじめまして。岡山県立岡山操山高校長の近藤です。
　歓迎会に先立ち、本校を代表し、歓迎の言葉を申し上げます。
　セイクリッド・ハート・カレッジの生徒と先生の皆さん、岡山操山高校にようこそ！皆さんを心から歓迎いたします。
　今日から、５泊６日の予定で、皆さんに、本校で授業や部活動を体験したり、生徒の家でホームステイを経験してもらいます。授業では、本校生徒と一緒に、日本の伝統文化に触れてもらう機会もあります。また、近隣にある古い庭園（後楽園）や城（岡山城）も、本校生徒のガイドで見学に行きますので、楽しみにしておいてください。
　さて、本校は、昨年度から、文部科学省からスーパーグローバルハイスクールの指定を受け、岡山と日本の未来を切り拓くグローバル・リーダーの育成を目指す教育実践を進めています。本校生徒と皆さんとの交流を通して、英語を活用したコミュニケーション能力が高まることを期待しています。
来校された生徒の皆さんは、日本語も勉強されていると聞いています。どうぞ生徒に、気軽に日本語で話しかけてください。言葉や文化の違いを超えて、　お互いのことを理解し合い、将来にわたって友情が続くような素敵な関係を築いてくれることを期待しています。
